Iheanacho opens Leicester City goal account

Kelechi Iheanacho Leicester City

Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, finally ended his Leicester City duck in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Leeds United.

The Nigerian has seemingly failed to deliver the goods at the King Power Stadium since joining the Foxes from Manchester City for £25m.

Seven previous outings have all ended in frustration for the Nigerian, who at some point, was even relegated to the youth team.

However, that appears to be history now as the 21-year-old finally registered his first Leicester goal in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

With the visitors one-goal up through Pablo Hernandez after just 14 minutes, Iheanacho pounced on a calamitous defending to restore parity three minutes later.

The 21-year-old then turned provided for Islam Slimani in the 70th minute.

Before Slimani’s countryman, Riyad Mahrez came off the bench to seal a comfortable victory for the Foxes.

While it was a memorable night for Iheanacho, it wasn’t the same for compatriot, Ahmed Musa, who never got a taste of the action.

Wilfred Ndidi, meanwhile, was granted the day off but will most likely return to face Everton on Sunday.
