Mr Macaroni, Ayo cry out as NDLEA arrests skit maker De General

Skit maker Chukwuyem Jude Israel popularly known as De General has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The comedian went live on Instagram to show when the operatives stormed his apartment in the early hours of Wednesday, January 12.

The 22-year-old could be seen having a verbal exchange with the operatives who asked him to stop the live recording. The operatives soon pounced on him after he refused, saying he wanted the whole world to know what was going on.

“Let the world know what is happening. Do you people even know my fundamental human rights? We will just escalate this matter, let everybody see it,” he responded to the officer who asked him to stop the video.

His fellow comedian Ayo The Creator also took to Instagram to call for help, alleging that De General had been handcuffed and taken into custody by the NDLEA operatives.

“@ndlea_nigeria you know where the real drug barons are in this Lagos, but yet you come into @iam_degeneral house assault and arrest him! Have you ever seen him promote drugs on his content? @iam_degeneral doesn’t do drugs, and whoever is responsible for this God is Watching yu. I haven’t slept since 2 am… They wouldn’t let us in the station… Please Help Us Noble Nigerians he is in the NDLEA office in FESTAC,” he wrote.

Another skit maker Mr. Macaroni criticised the NDLEA for the arrest.

“So you people’s work is to enter people’s houses in the middle of the night to beat and harass citizens. This is happening right now. We don’t know where they have taken him to. Oppressors everywhere,” he tweeted.

A spokesperson of the NDLEA Femi Babafemi confirmed to TheCable Lifestyle that De General is being held in the agency’s custody.

He also alleged that certain illegal drugs were found on the skit maker during the raid, thereby necessitating his arrest.

Last year, another skit maker Cute Abiola was detained by the navy for flouting its social media policy.
