Miyetti Allah set for crunch talks with Akeredolu, south-west govs over eviction

Rotimi Akeredolu

Following the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum issued by Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for herdsmen to vacate the state’s forest reserves, the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) will on Monday, January 25 meet the South-West Governors’ Forum.

The meeting is scheduled to start by noon in Akure, Ondo State capital, Commissioner for Information Donald Ojogo told Channels TV.

It also quoted a source who said the meeting was meant to find lasting solutions to the incessant killings, kidnapping, and crises between herdsmen and farmers in the region.

The eviction order had spiralled into a clash between herders and people of Igangan in Oyo over the weekend after an activist Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho tried to force herders accused of criminal activities out of Igangan.
