Mister Supranational Nigeria, Lam Chris, has advised aspiring pageant contestants to properly investigate competitions before signing up, warning that some organisers allegedly exploit participants without offering genuine opportunities.
He made the remarks during an interview on Yanga 89.9 FM, where he said some pageants already have preferred winners before contests begin, leaving other contestants to spend money and effort without a fair chance.
According to him, many participants pay for registration, outfits, rehearsals and other preparations, only to later realise that the process was not transparent.
“Why not just tell people you already have someone you want to crown instead of stressing others?” he said. “In every industry, there are bad eggs, so people should make proper enquiries before joining any pageant.”
Lam Chris urged contestants to research organisers carefully, verify the credibility of competitions, and speak with former participants before committing their time and resources.
During the interview, he also shared a light moment involving a female admirer. He said the woman initially sent him a romantic message expressing interest in marriage and starting a family, but later turned hostile after he did not respond quickly because the message was in his request folder.
“She first said, ‘I love you so much, let’s get married.’ Then the next day she said, ‘Ugly boy, you will not even win,’” he recalled.
He also spoke on relationships within pageantry, noting that male pageants are becoming more inclusive and now allow contestants who are fathers or in relationships to take part.
Lam Chris was unveiled as Mister Supranational Nigeria 2026 in May and will represent Nigeria at the international Mister Supranational competition in Poland.
He succeeds Michael Mazi Michael, who represented Nigeria in 2025 and finished as third runner up at the global contest. The international Mister Supranational 2026 final is scheduled to hold on August 1 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Poland, as part of the Festival of Beauty 2026.
