Missing Abuja female NYSC member Stephanie Terungwa found dead

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed the death of Stephanie Terungwa, a corps member who was based in Abuja.

Terungwa’s family reported that she was last seen on April 14 at Lokogoma area of Abuja.

According to her uncle, Richard Iorliam, Terungwa and her one-year-old son were abducted after she attended the weekly NYSC community development service exercise. He said the baby was later found.

“My niece is missing … anyone with information should come forward. Last known location..Lokogoma Abuja. Abducted with her 1yr old son after attending NYSC CDS exercise. Baby later found but she still remains missing. Pls share till she is found,” Mr Iorliam said in a Facebook post.

In a statement, however, NYSC spokesman Eddy Megwa revealed that Terungwa’s body was found defaced.

“The corpse was found wearing the NYSC khaki trouser with the face defaced beyond recognition. On account of this, Management reported the discovery to relevant security agencies to help identify the body.

“It was later confirmed that the remains were that of a missing Corps Member, Stephanie Se-Ember Terungwa, with State Code Number FC/21B/5807,” the statement said.

Megwa noted that investigations are ongoing to unravel the perpetrators of the act.

Terungwa graduated from JS Tarka University, Benue.
