Mercy Johnson’s husband wins House of Reps

Odianosen Okojie, husband to Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has won the House of Representatives seat for Esan South-East/Esan North-East Federal Constituency in Edo State.

The 49-year-old All Progressives Congress (APC) politician polled a total of 21,764 votes to defeat Labour Party which got 11,528 votes and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which came third with 10,007 votes.

Okojie shared a video of him and some of his supporters celebrating the victory on Instagram.

“With gratitude to God Almighty, My Family and the support of the good people of AGBAZILO, I was declared the winner of the Election for the Federal House of Representatives. Esan North-East/Esan South-East federal constituency 2023. Thank you for all your support and love. I am sincerely grateful,” he captioned the post.

In another video, he stated that he was very happy to have won.

“I am very happy, for me, there is no victor and no vanquished all elections are contested to be won and I am happy I won this,” he said

Mercy Johnson also took to Instagram to congratulate her husband on his win.

“It was a huge win and the people of agbazilo have spoken.

“You will always Lead right and the people will trust and always stand by you.

“The youths, women and men stood strongly behind him,” she wrote.

The actress went on a series of campaigns with her husband before the election.

She posted a video of herself begging the electorates to vote for her husband on Instagram on Saturday, February 18, a week before the election.
