Meet Terry Waya, billionaire father of Big Brother Naija Kiddwaya

Terry Waya father of Big Brother Naija Kiddwaya

Big Brother Naija 2020 housemate Kiddwaya is arguably one of the favourites to win this year’s edition of the popular reality TV show.

Born Terseer Waya, the 27-year-old has gained large followership with his personality as a rich kid contesting for the N85 million grand prize. His romantic relationship with Erica also helps his course.

The Benue-born Kiddwaya came into the Big Brother house as the son of billionaire Terry Waya.

Speaking about his father, Kidd said “I learnt more from people about my dad. He’s the calm one. Growing up, things weren’t difficult, he’s stubborn, runs away from home to do business. He ran away when I was 16, came back when I was 19, and bought my mom a house, and they’re doing great.”

On his father’s political connection, he added: My dad took 14 governors to London for his birthday, and that caused him a lot of problems. He’s been a leader. He’s always connecting and looking after people.”

Terry Waya is well known for his flamboyant lifestyle and high taste for the fine things of life.

The 55-year-old businessman is married to Eno Olafisoye (nee Udoh).

He is known for his close relationship with former governors Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, James Ibori, and Lucky Igbinedion of Bayelsa, Delta and Edo states respectively among other politicians.

In November 2005, Terry Waya was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in his North London home. He was arrested on charges of money laundering.

It was alleged that Waya played a big role in the bail process of fugitive former governor of Bayelsa State Alamieyeseigha after a deposit of about 500,000 pounds was made to secure bail for the Bayelsa governor who later escaped to Nigeria.

In November 2008 after his UK ordeal, Terry Waya was picked up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja for alleged impersonation and extortion.

The EFCC released him in December 2008 without pressing any charges against him.

Speaking in an Instagram Live interview with Dele Momodu, Waya said his son went into the Big Brother house without his permission.

He has, however, changed his mind, saying “I really want him to win it if it is possible so he can utilise the resources.”
