Meet Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, the Lagos lawmaker who said Nigerian youths are high on drugs

A Lagos lawmaker Mojisola Alli-Macaulay drew the ire of Nigerian youths when she said during plenary at the Lagos State House of Assembly that most of the youths are high on drugs all the time.

The lawmaker representing Amuwo Odofin constituency 1 was speaking on the looting and pandemonium in the wake of the #EndSARS protest that was hijacked by hoodlums.

“The National Orientation Agency needs to get to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people. They need people who can talk to them from time to time. They are high on drugs all the time, most of them,” she said.

1. Alli-Macaulay was born on October 10, 1977 in Surulere, Lagos. She is from Lagos Island, Lagos. She is popularly known in her circle as Mama Amuwo.

2. She grew up in FESTAC Town and graduated in 2015 with a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University.

3. She also has a diploma in Social Science from The Open University, Milton Keynes, England (2002-2003).

4. Mama Amuwo is currently undergoing a study in law at the University of Lagos.

5. She has worked as a newscaster and presenter on MITV/Star FM;  marketing manager at D.R. Marketing & Communications; duty announcer at Radio Lagos/Eko FM 89.75 and senior marketing executive, presenter and producer at Continental Broadcasting Service (TVC/RC).

6. She is a former councillor, Ward B1 (2010- 2013); former deputy leader, Amuwo Odofin Legislative Council, Amuwo Odofin LGA; member of Lagos State House of Assembly 2019 – date; and chairman, committee on central business district, Lagos State House of Assembly.

7. Alli-Macaulay likes reading, travelling and good music.
