Mbaka stripped of position as head of Adoration Ministry

Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese Callistus Onaga has removed controversial priest Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka as the spiritual director of Adoration Ministry.

Mbaka made the announcement during Mass on Sunday, stating that Rev. Fr Anthony Amadi would head the ministry while he (Mbaka) would head to a monastery.

“So, while I proceed to the monastery to continue with the remaining disciplinary exercises, as directed; I wouldn’t know how long; but the church has appointed Fr Anthony Amadi, one of us, to be overseeing all affairs of the ministry, to be assisted by other priests, pending my return, by the grace of God,” Mbaka was quoted as saying by Vanguard.

The priest announced last week that Onaga had lifted the ban placed on the ministry following Mbaka’s public rebuke of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

But during the Mass, Mbaka explained that the ministry had not fully opened, pointing out that some programmes including the weekly Friday vigil remains suspended.

The newspaper reports that Fr Amadi, who was present at the Mass, was nearly lynched by angry worshippers after the announcement.
