Rapper Ruggedman has said that a lot of his colleagues who are talentless hide behind Afrobeats.

The 50-year-old said this in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

A snippet of the discussion was shared on Instagram on Friday in which Ruggedman could be heard saying that a lot of people hide behind the African music genre.

“When you ask me what Afrobeats is, I’ll tell you Afrobeats is what a lot of talentless people hide behind,” he said.

Born Michael Stephen, the rapper is a Nigeria police ambassador.

He began his music career in 1999 and released two songs in the same year.

His record label, Rugged Records, signed its first act, singer MBRYO, in September 2012
