Two persons, including a teenage girl, who allegedly conspired to rape a teenager, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The accused, Damilola Oyewunmi, 25, a male and Glory Francis, 19, a female, both residents of Ogba, a suburb of Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy, rape and indecent assault.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Clifford Ogu, told the court that they committed the offences on December 2 at Block 22, Flat 13, LSDPC Estate, Ogba, at the residence of the first accused.

Ogu said that the second accused, Glory lured her friend, a 16-year-old girl, to her boyfriend’s house at night.

“The second accused slept in the same room with her boyfriend and left her friend in the hand of the first accused, who is her boy friend’s brother.

“In the night, the first accused was making advances at the girl but she ignored him.

“While the complainant was holding back her body, the first accused dragged her on the floor, tore her panties and in the process, she sustained an injury,” he said.

Ogu said that the first accused finally had his way and raped her.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Akanni adjourned the case to January 24 for mention.
