Man slumps, dies during road walk in Lagos

An unnamed man died on Sunday morning while on a road walk along WEMCO Road, Ogba, Lagos.

The man was said to have slumped after a cardiac arrest.

Punchng.com reports that the man, according to footage of the incident, was wearing a Chelsea FC jersey and white pants.

The victim, according to an eyewitness, Ayobami Adedeji, died on the spot despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation performed on him.

Mr Adedeji was quoted saying that he called emergency numbers for over an hour but there was no response.

General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, when contacted for comments, confirmed that the man suffered cardiac arrest while jogging.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu added that his remains had been evacuated to a mortuary.

“The man suffered suspected cardiac arrest. When we received the call, we contacted the SHEMU to evacuate the corpse. The corpse has been evacuated. We are appealing to everybody who wants to exercise to endeavour to do the basic tests to ascertain their fitness,” he said.
