Third Mainland Bridge Lagos

A 22-year-old man, Daibo Davies, has jumped off Third Mainland Bridge into the Lagos Lagoon.

Mr Daibo abandoned a Uber cab he was travelling in with the driver and plunged into the lagoon on Saturday morning.

The Rapid Response Squad said in a tweet that search efforts had been called off. It, however, did not say if the man was found.

“Search and rescue teams have called off the search for a man who alighted from a cab on 3MB under the guise of trying to pee but dived into the Lagoon at around 11:00 a.m today. All emergency agencies have been on ground with assistance from local divers. #TheGoodGuys,” the tweet read.

According to an affidavit dated February 6 found in the victim’s possession, he was born on July 22, 1998, and resides at 17 Sosanya Street Gbagada Soluyi, Lagos.

The victims had two bags in the trunk of the Toyota Corolla car which he boarded.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Director-General, Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu, said the victim took the Uber cab from Mercy Hospital, Gbagada.

“Investigation conducted revealed that the victim informed the Uber driver of stomach upset. The driver stopped at his request, he then jumped off the bridge,” he said.
