Man, 32, docked over alleged N2.1m land fraud

One Mr Muyiwa Adenuga, who allegedly defrauded a man of N2.1 million on the pretext of selling a piece of land to him, was brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Adenuga, 32, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretences and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Omisakin, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between July 2018 and December 2018 at Meiran in Lagos State.

Omisakin said that the defendant collected the sum from the complainant, Mr Alexander Nwanya, on the pretext that he had a piece of land for sale.

The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Komolafe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties each in like sum.

Komolafe adjourned the case until Nov. 21 for mention.
