Malawi’s former president Joyce Banda speaks on how TB Joshua healed husband of stroke

Former President of Malawi Joyce Banda has revealed that she met the late Prophet TB Joshua in 2009 when her husband Richard Banda suffered a stroke.

Speaking on My TBJ Moments, an Emmanuel TV production to showcase Joshua’s legacy, the 72-year-old said she was in Venezuela when she received a call that her husband, who was the Chief Justice of Swaziland, had suffered a stroke in London. At that time, she was Vice President of Malawi.

In the 12th episode of My TBJ Moments published on Thursday, September 1, Banda said she and her husband flew down to Lagos to see Joshua but they had difficulty getting through to him. They had checked out of Sheraton Hotel to return home when Joshua called and asked them to come to the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun-Egbe.

Banda, who would later become the first female President of Malawi following the sudden death of President Bingu wa Mutharika in 2012, noted that on her first meeting with Joshua he was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

After prayers, the couple headed for South Africa. It was there Banda said she saw the prayer manifest. According to her, her husband began to walk and talk.

“On one of the online news media they had written that he was on his death bed, that he could not speak. So he said he must show Malawi that the Lord we serve is an awesome God. The only way you will know now that he ever suffered a stroke is that he drags his feet. We must forever be grateful to God,” she said.

She recalled what Joshua told her after praying for her husband: “He said to me that my husband is healed and that when we return to Malawi, I should keep thanking God because it was God who did the healing and not him.”

As the first female President of Malawi, Banda said Joshua greatly inspired her to project Africa and remain rooted in African ideals as a woman leader of international repute.
