The suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has written to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to be released on bail.

Mr Magu has been in police detention since Monday after his arrest to face a panel on allegations of corruption.

He wrote to the police boss in a letter sent on Friday on his behalf by one of his lawyers, Oluwatosin Ojaomo.

The letter dated July 10 requested that Magu be granted bail “on self-recognisance”.

Magu has been appearing before the panel from detention in Abuja since his arrest.
