Lionel Richie pays tribute to friend, Kenny Rogers

Singer, Lionel Richie, has paid tribute to his friend and fellow singer, the late Kenny Rogers.

The 70-year-old shared the tribute on Instagram on Saturday.

“Today I lost one of my closest friends. So much laughter, so many adventures to remember, my heart is broken. My prayers go out to Kenny’s family,” he said.

Richie and the late Rogers were friends and frequent collaborators for decades.

They worked together on the 1980 song ‘Lady’ which they also performed on stage severally over the years.

Speaking about their friendship and collaboration, the late Rogers described Richie as “not just a great friend but one who helped create one of the most transcendent songs in his career.”

Singer, Dolly Parton, also paid tribute to the late singer on Saturday.

The ‘Jolene’ singer wrote on Instagram, “You never know how much you love someone until they’re gone. I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend, Kenny.”

Kenny Rogers died on Friday night.

According to a statement released by his family on Saturday, the ‘Lucillle’ singer died “peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”
