Mo Alder, wife of brand strategy consultant Leke Alder, has said that they were friends for three years before going into a romantic relationship.
Mrs Alder revealed this in a speech at an event in Lagos tagged ‘Intimate Festival of Words’ to mark her husband’s 60th birthday on February 23.
Alder shared his wife’s speech on Instagram on Wednesday.
In the speech, Mrs Alder said she was a brand and communications manager at a firm when she first met Alder. The company she worked for contracted Alder Consulting to manage a branding project.
She said that after a meeting Alder engaged her in a four-hour discussion about life and faith.
Being a reserved person, she said she wondered how he managed to engage her in such a lengthy conversation.
“All of this time, he was just Mr. Alder to me and nothing more. I never imagined that a few years down the line, I would become his wife. By the way, I still call him ‘Mr. Alder’ but in a much more loving way now.

“We would be friends for about 3 years before he asked me out or anything romantic evolved between us,” she said.
Mrs Alder further said she thinks her husband’s brain was made to handle complex matters while he struggles with simple everyday things.
“On the flip side, he finds the simplest everyday tasks complex to handle! Simple things like, how to use an ATM card, or using the microwave oven, making choices from a restaurant menu, or even relating with our domestic staff at home are so tasking for him! His brain is wired to only handle complex things!” She said.
Mrs Alder added that her husband loves deeply and is the kind of friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Alder revealed at the event that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and only recently completed treatment.
