A student of Lead British International School in Abuja Mariam Hassan, caught on camera assaulting another student identified as Namtira, has apologised for her action.

Two videos showing Namtira being manhandled went viral on social media in the early hours of Tuesday.

In one of the videos, the victim was seen being slapped repeatedly by Hassan who asked “Who broke my heart?”

In the second video, the victim was assaulted again while sitting next to a male student who was heard saying “I spoilt her relationship”.

Hassan was brought to the school by her parents on Tuesday morning following the outrage that greeted the videos.

At the entrance, she was confronted by a woman said to be the victim’s aunt.

“Did you give birth to her?” The woman asked Hassan who immediately went on her knees to apologise after getting hit by the woman.

A video of the confrontation has gone viral also on social media.

Teachers and the school’s management immediately went into a meeting with all involved in the matter.

Apologising in a video, Hassan said: “My name is Mariam Hassan, and I am sincerely sorry for what I did to Namtira. I am also apologising to you people outside, I am sincerely sorry, I wish this never happened.”

Head of the school Abraham Ogunkambi earlier issued a statement, noting the school’s disapproval of bullying. He also confirmed the launch of an investigation into the matter.

“The school management is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness,” Mr Ogunkambi said.
