Lawan swears in Danbaba as Tambuwal’s replacement

Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday administered the oath of office on Senator Ibrahim Danbaba as senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District.

Danbaba, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), replaces Shehu Tambuwal of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was sacked by the Court of Appeal.

Lawan had last week sworn in Bidoun Olujimi of PDP to replace Dayo Adeyeye of APC who was also sacked by the appellate court.

This brings the number of APC senators to 63 as PDP senators increase to 43.

Ifeanyi Ubah stands as the only senator from Young Progressive Party (YPP).

Kogi West Senatorial District seat is yet to be filled after election held last Saturday, with Dino Melaye and Smart Adeyemi as major contenders, was declared inconclusive.
