Lagos pilgrims pray for Akinwunmi Ambode in Mecca Saudi Arabia

Coordinator of Our Lagos, Your Lagos initiative, Idris Aregbe, led scores of Muslim pilgrims from Lagos State at the weekend to hold special prayers for Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at Kaabah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia for the success of the present administration.

The prayers, led by Sheikh Khalifa Abubakar Dieye from Senegal, Abiodun Yinusa and Sheikh Ibrahim Hamdallah, saw pilgrims under the aegis of the Our Lagos, Your Lagos initiative seize the period of the Lesser Hajj to pray for the second year in office of the Ambode-led administration.

Mr Aregbe said the first term of Mr Ambode was characterised by series of laudable projects including improved road infrastructure, schools’ upgrade, improved healthcare sector and massive investment in the security apparatus in the state.

He said they decided to utilise the period of the Ramadan to commit the progress of the state to God.

He also expressed optimism that with Ambode on the saddle as helmsman, Lagos is bound to grow in leaps and bounds in spite of economic challenges across the country

“There is still a lot of work to be done in the state, but Governor Ambode has started on a very sound footing despite the economic challenges in the country.

“Many states are finding it hard to cope with the paucity of funds, but thank God for Ambode, Lagos is one of the very few states which have continued to rise despite the economic outlook.

“This is the second year and we believe by the grace of Almighty Allah, the plans he has for the next one year will come to pass. With Ambode, Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko is assured,” he said.

The group also used the occasion to pray for continued peaceful co-existence in the state as well as the overall progress of Nigeria.
