Lagos deputy governor-elect, Obafemi Hamzat, buries father

Obafemi Hamzat

Deputy Governor-elect of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has begun the burial ceremony of his father, Oba Mufutau Hamzat.

Oba Hamzat, the traditional ruler of Afowowa Kingdom in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, died on Sunday aged 86 after a brief illness.

He is being buried in his Lagos home in Ogba according to Islamic rites.

Arrival of dignitaries for the ceremony has put the area under heavy traffic.

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) are, however, putting up efforts to manage the situation.

The two-lane road on each side has been reduced to one each.
