Noo Saro-Wiwa, travel writer and daughter of the late environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, on Thursday published her new non-fiction book Black Ghosts: A Journey Into the Lives of Africans in China.
She announced the publication on Instagram with a photo of the book’s back cover showing endorsements from people she said inspired her.
“Publication day!! Of my book Black Ghosts: A Journey Into the Lives of Africans in China (Canongate, 2023). This is the back cover, with endorsements from two people who inspired me as a young aspiring travel writer. Thanks @paul.theroux, Sarah Wheeler, @canongatebooks, @milesmorland, the Miles Morland Foundation and my fabulous agent @elise.dillsworth,” she wrote.
Noo explored the experience of Africans in Guangzhou and Hong Kong in her new book.

Prior to the publication, she posted on Instagram a photo of her father at Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1981.
Noting how much she would have gained from his wealth of knowledge, she wrote, “The chats we could’ve had about our respective travels.”️
In February 2021, Noo joined in the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Also known as Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, the Chinese New Year marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.
