Kano Emir tasks residents on tax payment

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, has charged residents in the state to imbibe the culture of paying their taxes promptly.

The first-class traditional ruler made the call on Thursday while receiving the Executive Chairman of Kano Internal Revenue Services (KIRS), Mr Abdulrazaq Datti, in his place in Kano.

Ado-Bayero attributed the myriad of problems facing the country to prevailing economic challenges.

According to him, there is the need to diversify sources of income to enable government execute more development projects.

The Emir however advised the management staff of the revenue  board to adopt modalities that would enhance the income generation of the state.

He reaffirmed the resolve of the emirate to support any move that would improve the living standard of the teeming populace.

Earlier, Datti said the visit was to pay homage and seek the Emir’s blessings and support in order to carry out his assigned responsibility effectively.

Meanwhile, the Emir also received on a similar visit, the members of the National Movement for Rebuilding Nigeria, under the leadership of its National President, Dr Aminu Mato.

Ado-Bayero assured them of his maximum support towards the success of the movement in reengineering Nigeria.
