Kwam1 K1 Wasiu AyindeFuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1, has denied knowledge of any shooting during his performance in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State in the early hours of Sunday, October 11.

Media reports had quoted spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, as saying K1 will be questioned over the shooting of one Kofowora Azeez, identified as a student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University by one of the musician’s bodyguards.

The student was said to have been in a car opposite a popular hotel in the town when the bullet pierced her buttock.

“We are going to invite the musician for questioning because the police will not condone violence in any form. We are inviting him for interrogation and possibly to get the perpetrator who fired the innocent lady,” Mr. Adejobi was quoted as saying.

Reacting to the report in a statement on Monday, K1 said “I wish to state that no such incident happened throughout the few hours we stayed at the community, at least to the best of my knowledge. There was a good presence of security personnel of both police and soldiers at the venue which obviously will reinforce the fact that there would not be any act of thuggery or harassment at the event.”

He swore that the event was without any rancour from about 3:30am on Sunday morning till about 6: 15am when he stopped performance.

“The traditional paramount ruler of the community and a host of other distinguished dignitaries were all in attendance, so I’m shocked to hear the news of any shooting,” he said.

“After the show I spent some time to take pictures as requested by some students and my fans before we eventually left the town. I headed straight to my residence in Ijebu Ode where I stayed for about seven hours before I finally returned to Lagos to catch a flight to London. I was shocked thereafter when I started to receive calls from well-meaning friends and family concerning a story in The Punch Newspaper this morning that I was wanted in connection with shooting of a student at Ago Iwoye.

“I will like to state categorically that I was not aware of such and neither my band was involved in any fracas that could have led to the breakdown of law and order. Finally, I want to implore the highest authority of the police to begin proper investigation into the matter to unravel the truth nothing but the truth.”

The man many refer to as Fuji Czar was in Ago Iwoye for a show tagged ‘K1 De Ultimate Live @ Limelite’. Also on stage were May D and Oritsefemi.
