Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated seven persons to fill vacant ministerial positions.

In a letter to the Senate read on Tuesday during plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Buhari said the nominees would replace the former ministers that resigned from his cabinet.

The nominees are: Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh – Abia State; Umana Okon Umana – Akwa Ibom State; Egwumakama Joseph Nkama – Ebonyi State; and Goodluck Nnana Opiah – Imo State.

Others are Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub – Kano State; Ademola Adewole Adegoroye – Ondo State, and Odum Odih – Rivers State.

Buhari said he is expecting the usual expeditious consideration and confirmation of the nominees by the Senate.

Several ministers, including that of transportation Rotimi Amaechi, resigned from the cabinet to contest in the primary elections of the All Progressives Congress held recently.
