John Ogu partakes in Jewish ritual

Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, joined several Israelites to mark this year’s Purim day.

Purim commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who intended to kill all the Jews.

According to biblical tales, Haman’s plot was foiled by Mordecai and his cousin and adopted daughter Esther, who had risen to become Queen of Persia.

The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing.

This year, it was celebrated between Wednesday 28th February and March 1st.

Ogu, who plays his club football in the ancient nation for Hapoel Beer Sheva wasn’t left out.

He rushed to Twitter late Thursday to join the feast.

Ogu moved Israel from Portugal in 2014.

Since that switch, the Nigerian has matured into a fearless midfielder, helping Sheva to three silverware.
