Jaiye Kuti honours late friend Henrietta Kosoko at movie premiere

Actress Jaiye Kuti on Wednesday honoured her late colleague and friend Henrietta Kosoko with an Award of Honour at the premiere of her movie Jaiyeola Monje (The Anniversary) in Ikeja, Lagos.

The film is scheduled for cinema release nationwide on May 22.

Actor Antar Laniyan presented the award to Temilade and Sola Kosoko, who received it on behalf of the late actress.

Presenting the award, Antar said, “May her soul continue to rest in peace. Temilade this is for mommy. Sola, let’s thank God. We thank God for everything, we cannot question God. Today we are giving this to you. I say again ‘may her soul rest in peace’. This for you and the family”

Receiving the award, Temilade said, “I will just say on behalf of the entire Kosoko family, we say thank you so much mommy Jaiye. Thank you so much for honouring my mom. This year makes it ten years since she died, so thank you so much ma. We appreciate. I just want everybody to know that There are so many projects coming up in honour of my mom. Please just be on the lookout. Thank you.”

Henrietta died on June 6, 2016, after collapsing at her home in Bariga, Lagos. She was married to veteran actor Jide Kosoko and was known for her roles in several Yoruba films before her death.

Jaiyeola Monje (The Anniversary) is directed by Oluwale Adebayo and stars Jaiye Kuti alongside Antar Laniyan, Bimbo Oshin, Fathia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Pasuma, Itele d Icon and Yinka Quadri.

According to the synopsis, the movie follows two lovers whose lives are tied together by a spiritual pact, leading to events that blur the line between life and death.
