ISWAP fighters leave policemen dead in Borno base attack

At least two mobile policemen (MOPOL) were killed after an attack by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday evening.

A security source told Daily Trust that vehicles were burnt after ISWAP fighters invaded the MOPOL Base in Damboa town.

The source said a civilian JTF, and vigilante offices along Biu road as well as a patrol vehicle were burnt.

“So far we lost four persons, including three mobile policemen and a girl who was hit by stray bullets. They burnt three cars belonging to policemen and a patrol vehicle of vigilantes,” the source was quoted as saying.

An unconfirmed number of persons were also injured in the attack which forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes.

Also on Thursday night, suspected ISWAP fighters attacked Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno State but were repelled by the military.
