Ikoyi building: How US-bound Wale Bob-Oseni went missing after call from Femi Osibona

A real estate dealer Wale Bob-Oseni is reported to be among those trapped in the rubble after a 21-storey building collapsed in Ikoyi area of Lagos on Monday.

Mr Bob-Oseni reportedly got a call from the developer of the building Femi Osibona to stop by and see the high-rise building on his way to the airport en route the United States.

Both men have not been found since the incident occurred.

Bob-Oseni’s sister Damilola Otunla, 29, has been keeping vigil at the site of the collapsed building on Gerrard Road anxiously waiting to hear news of her brother.

“He took me like his own daughter,” she told AFP of her brother.

Otunla said she was angry with the slow pace of the rescue efforts. About 22 persons have been pulled out dead, with nine survivors recorded so far.

A man believed to be Bob-Oseni’s driver was seen in tears in a video that went viral some minutes after the collapse.

“He was heading to America. I want(ed) to go and drop him in the airport,” the man lamented.

According to his profile on LinkedIn, Bob-Oseni is also the corporate affairs manager of the First Premiere Mortgage, and executive director of African Bureau for Legislative Empowerment.
