Ikorodu will not betray you, monarch assures Sanwo-Olu

Babajide Sanwo-Olu Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabiru Shotobi and Obafemi Hamzat

Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabiru Shotobi has assured the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running mate Obafemi Hamzat that the Ikorodu people will not betray them in their quest for election.

The monarch gave this assurance on Monday when Sanwo-Olu and his team visited the palace for a consultative meeting.

They were greeted with music, dance and wild jubilation.

Other traditional rulers in Ikorodu division unanimously endorsed the APC candidate.

Speaking on behalf of the monarchs Oba Shotobi urged Sanwo-Olu to prioritise infrastructure and improvement of social services in Ikorodu if elected.

“The people of Ikorodu are behind you, but we want you to take the state to a greater height,” Shotobi said.

Oba Shotobi, who read out a long list of infrastructural projects needed in the area, said he was convinced that the duo would do well if elected because they have been part of successful governments in the state.

“We don’t have to sweat so much because I know the two of you personally and I know that you understand what our needs are in Ikorodu division. Ikorodu is one of the five divisions of Lagos. Existing infrastructure need to be expanded to accommodate increasing population and we need new ones. We want improvement on our public schools and health facilities among others,” he said.

A political leader Olorunfunmi Bashorun promised the APC candidates massive votes from Ikorodu saying the division is an APC domain and the leadership had started working towards recording huge votes for them.

In his response, Sanwo-Olu promised to partner with local government councils in Ikorodu and dialogue with the communities to have firsthand information on their needs and ensure they are met.
