Ihonvbere resigns from Oshiomhole’s cabinet

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Professor Julius Ihonvbere from the cabinet as Secretary to the State Government.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Peter Okhiria, said Oshiomhole “thanks Prof Ihonvbere for his services to the government and the state.”

Ihonvbere, a political scientist, recently lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the Edo North senatorial district election in 2015 to Mr Francis Alimikhena.

Oshiomhole is from the senatorial district.

Ihonvbere polled 815 votes while Alimikhena got 831.

Incumbent Senator Domingo Obende received 198.

Oshiomhole, Okhiria wrote, “wishes Prof Ihonvbere well in his future endeavours.”
