Iheanacho celebrates first goal of 2017

Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho, has expressed his joy after scoring his first goal of the new year for Manchester City on Wednesday.

The young forward grabbed a goal in City’s 5-1 win over Huddersfield in the English FA Cup replay.

Iheanacho, 20, had failed to score for his team since his strike on Boxing Day in the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League.

This was partly due to the fact that the youngster had only seen about 70 minutes of action in 2017.

The Nigerian, who has been ignored by his manager, Pep Guardiola, since the start of the new, took to social media to express his delight.

Iheanacho’s goal is his seventh of the season in 19 appearances in all competitions.

He struck immediately after coming off the substitute bench in the 78th minute to replace Sergio Aguero who scored twice.

Leroy Sane and Pablo Zabaleta grabbed City’s other goal while Harry Bunn had shot the visitors into the lead.

City set up a quarter-final match against Middlesbrough on March 11.

That means City’s Premier League game against Stoke, originally scheduled for that date, will be brought forward to March 8.
