IGP redeploys Rivers police commissioner

Mohammed Adamu IGP

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu, has authorised the immediate redeployment of the commissioner of police in Rivers State, Dandaura Mustapha.

Force spokesman, Frank Mba, stated this in a statement on Friday.

Mustapha will now occupy the position of the Commissioner of Police, Provost, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He is being replaced at Rivers with Joseph Mukan.

The IGP also approved Musa Adze as the new Commissioner of Police, Anti-Fraud Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Adamu charged the affected commissioners to “diligently and professionally” discharge their duties in their new areas of responsibilities while noting that their posting and redeployment was with immediate effect.

The changes in Rivers State follow the arrest of 22 staff of ExxonMobil who flew into the state despite the coronavirus-induced lockdown and border closure in place in the state.

The redeployed commissioner also facilitated the arrest of two Caverton Helicopters’ pilots and 10 passengers for similar offence.
