IGP orders restoration of Akeredolu’s deputy’s security details

Agboola Ajayi

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Bolaji Salami, to restore the security details of Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, with immediate effect.

The IGP’s directive was contained in a memo on Monday addressed to the police commissioner.

The memo – with ref. no CB: 2002/DOPS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL/77/168 – was signed on behalf of the IGP by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Force headquarters, Abuja, Austine Agbonlahor.

Police officers attached to the deputy governor were withdrawn after Mr Ajayi defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ajayi, who has been having a running battle with the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, had recently squared up with the police at the Government House following the refusal to allow him leave the premises with government property.
