IG withdraws E-Money’s police escorts

Emeka Okonkwo aka E-Money

Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the probe of music executive and chairman of Five Star Group, Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, for alleged abuse of police escorts and glitzy lifestyle.

It was learnt that the IG ordered police in Lagos to immediately withdraw the six policemen attached to E-Money, Punch reports on Tuesday.

E-Money is the brother of singer, Kingsley Okonkwo, also known as K-Cee.

E-Money is said to treat police escorts attached to him like domestic servants.

A top police officer was quoted saying the order came from the Force headquarters on Monday.

“The IG was surprised that policemen were attached to him in the first place and were being used like domestic servants, carrying umbrellas, opening doors, and doing menial jobs for him,” the source said.

The source also said it was discovered that E-Money’s police escorts were attached to B Operations at the command headquarters and not Mobile Police (MOPOL) which is the usual practice.

The policemen and E-Money will be questioned, the source added.

E-Money also claims to be a clearing and forwarding agent.

Among his property are two Rolls Royce, two Mercedes Benz G-Wagons and other Sports Utility Vehicles.
