9 foreign schools Buhari’s new CoS, Ibrahim Gambari, has links to

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday announced Prof. Ibrahim Gambari as his new chief of staff following the death of Abba Kyari in April.

Mr Kyari died on April 17 in Lagos of coronavirus (COVID-19) complications.

Gambari, an Ilorin prince, began his time as chief of staff on Wednesday after being unveiled at the maiden virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Below are nine foreign schools the professor of political science has had relations with in his lifetime.

1. Gambari earned his BSc (Econs) degree from the London School of Economics in 1968.

2. The renowned diplomat began his teaching career as a lecturer at Queen’s College, City University of New York in 1969.

3. He bagged his MA in 1970 and PhD in 1974 in Political Science/International Relations from Columbia University, USA.

4. He was an assistant professor at the State University of New York from 1974 to 1977.

5. Since becoming a professor in Nigeria in 1983 at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Gambari was visiting professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University.

6. He was also visiting professor at Georgetown University.

7. The 75-year-old was also visiting professor at Howard University in Washington DC, USA. All took place between 1986 to 1989.

8. Gambari was also a research fellow at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC.

9. He was a resident scholar with the Rockefeller Foundation Centre in Bellagio, Italy.
