I see my twin Taiwo beside me every day — Kehinde Adegbodu

Kehinde Adegbodu, twin brother of gospel singer Taiwo Adegbodu, has spoken about the pain of losing his brother months after his death.

Taiwo, one half of the gospel music duo Adegbodu Twins, died in March. News of his death shocked many fans and colleagues in the gospel music industry.

Speaking in an interview with actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo, Kehinde said he is still struggling to accept that his brother is gone.

According to him, he still feels Taiwo’s presence at events and often visits his graveside with members of their band.

He said, “To me personally, I don’t believe my Twin, Taiwo, is dead because I see him every day beside me. Each time we have an event, my bandmates and I go to his graveside to speak to him. Someone even called me and said they should pray for me so that I don’t kpai like my brother very soon. Him and I got married the same day, and we had all our children the same month.

“I never thought of losing Taiwo at that tender age. Taiwo was so active the day he kpai; it still looks like a dream to me. None of our fathers in the Lord saw the death of Taiwo; this still baffles me to date. I haven’t recovered from the shock, but I am believing God for strength”.

Taiwo and Kehinde became known in the Yoruba gospel music scene after releasing their album Faratimi (Lean on Me) in 1999. The brothers later gained popularity for songs including ‘Shower Your Blessing’, ‘Emi Mimo’, ‘Igbagbo Dun’, ‘Ma Beru’ and ‘Adura Mi Gba’.

The twins were also appointed special advisers on entertainment and tourism by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in recognition of their contribution to gospel music and culture.

Taiwo was buried in Ibadan in March at a funeral attended by family members, gospel artistes and fans.
