Pop star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he put his career and family name on the line during his campaign for his uncle Ademola Adeleke as Osun State governor.

The 29-year-old said this on Twitter on Wednesday, while rejoicing over the certificate of return issued to Adeleke by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after emerging winner of the governorship election held in Osun.

According to him, the road to victory was long battle and although his career and family name was on the line, they had faith in God.

“It’s been a long battle fought !! We put our Family name on the line , I put my career on the line ! But we had faith!! This was God testing us if we really believed in him !! I feel victorious! Congrats ! Your excellency @AAdeleke_01 ! As for me it’s back to the studio!”

The certificate was issued after Davido called out INEC over its alleged refusal to issue the certificate to Adeleke.

The singer played a major role in campaigning for his uncle during the governorship race.
