Actor Dele Odule has spoken about a difficult phase in his life when he felt overwhelmed by personal and financial struggles, revealing that he once priced his own casket during that period.
In an interview, Dele said the experience happened in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when he had lost hope about his future in the movie industry.
“I had priced my own casket before, when everything and my life were in shambles in Abeokuta. I didn’t get myself anymore; I didn’t believe I could break through. Olaiya Igwe knows about it; I went there with him, and he started crying like a baby,” he said.
He explained that his mindset at the time was shaped by frustration and disappointment, as he struggled to find stability in his career before eventual recognition in Nollywood.
The actor also noted that fellow actor Olaiya Igwe was present during the incident and witnessed his emotional state at the time.
Dele Odule has since grown to become one of the respected figures in Yoruba Nollywood, with a career spanning decades across stage and film productions. He has enjoyed a distinguished career in Nigerian cinema. Since the late 1980s, Odule has graced both stage and screen, becoming a respected figure in the industry. He has also served as President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
