Hypertensive mother of beheaded Ogun girl Rofiat yet to know daughter’s fate

The family of Rofiat, who was allegedly beheaded by her boyfriend Soliu and several others at the Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta, Ogun State is yet to inform her mother of the incident.

Rofiat’s elder sister Okeowo said their mother is hypertensive which is the reason they are yet to inform her of her daughter’s whereabouts.

“If we tell her now and she dies, that will leave us with two dead bodies,” she told PUNCH.

Her uncle Akeem Ramon said he took the girl’s mother to Ifo area to prevent her from hearing the sad news.

While the police have arrested three suspects, Wariz Oladehinde, 17, Abdul Gafar Lukman, 19, and Mustakeem Balogun, 20, Soliu is currently at large.

Rofiat was lured from her house last Friday evening to a building where she was beheaded.

Okeowo explained that on that fateful day Rofiat went missing, she had taken permission from her to go out after putting a pot of beans on fire. She said she had no idea where Rofiat was going.

“When it was around 8.30pm, I called her number and asked if she was coming home tonight. She answered saying she was already on her way and almost home. So, I went to bed,” Okeowo said.

“Around 10pm, I called her, only to discover that her number was no longer reachable. I asked her mother if she had seen her daughter, she said no. The following morning, I asked her mother again and she gave the same response.

“It was later in the day that I heard that a lady was killed and beheaded in the community. I was suspicious at that moment since I had not seen Rofiat.”

She said when she saw the viral video showing the suspects that beheaded the lady, she recognised one of them. This prompted her to carry a photo of the deceased to Adatan Police Station where the divisional police officer told them that Rofiat had been murdered.
