How I created hit I Can’t Look Away – Mr P

Peter Okoye P-Square

Singer and choreographer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed how he created his trending single ‘I Can’t Look Away’, saying he reunited with some of the key creatives who helped shape the success of P-Square.

Speaking during a radio interview with media personality Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, the singer said he returned to the formula that worked for the now defunct music group by bringing back members of the team behind several of its biggest hits.

“I had to bring back everybody that worked with us as P’Square, like Foster Zeeno, who was the brains behind many of our hits as P’Square,” he said.

Mr P explained that the move was part of efforts to create a quality project that would appeal to fans across different markets.

He also disclosed that he recently signed a five year deal with an international company, a partnership that includes the release of three albums.

“These people have invested so much in me, so I need to deliver,” he said.

The singer’s latest release has continued to gain attention since its debut, with many fans describing it as a return to the sound that helped make P Square one of Africa’s most successful music groups.

The song also received praise from music star Davido, who described it as a “fire” track on X, drawing further attention to the release.

‘I Can’t Look Away’ was released on June 5 and serves as the lead single from Mr P’s forthcoming album OG Forever, expected later this year.

P -Square, made up of twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, rose to fame with hits such as ‘Bizzy Body’, ‘No One Like You’ and ‘Personally’. Although the group reunited in 2021 after years apart, the brothers have since returned to pursuing separate music careers.
