Liverpool hosted Chelsea to an entertaining one-all draw in a Premier League encounter on Wednesday at Anfield.

Chelsea winger, Eden Hazard scored a brilliant goal through a solo run, but it was cancelled out by Christian Benteke’s stoppage time leveller.

The Blues were missing some notable players (Thibaut Courtois, John Terry and Diego Costa) through injury and suspension which forced coach Guus Hiddink to deploy John Obi Mikel in the defence line.

Liverpool started the game on the front foot by creating a couple of chances, but were unable to convert.

Hazard changed the rhythm of the game in the first half with an individual brilliance.

The Belgian weaved his way through the Liverpool defence before curling the ball into the corner in the 32nd minute.

It was his fourth goal in four games, reminding frustrated Chelsea fans of the magic that saw the club win the Premier League last season.

Bertrand Traore had a chance to make it 2-0 after Simon Mignolet committed an error in the Liverpool goal but the youngster’s effort went over the bar.

The second half saw the Reds lay a siege to the Chelsea defence in a bid to equalise.

Jurgen Klopp’s men squandered numerous chances and looked to be heading for a defeat before second half substitute Benteke headed into an empty net from close range after Asmir Begovic failed to deal with Nigeria-born Sheyi Ojo’s cross.

Meanwhile, Norwich and Newcastle have both been mathematically relegated from the English Premier League.
