Chief executive officer of Globe Motors Humphrey Anumudu has been found dead in his Lagos home after returning from a meeting at the Labour Party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Anumudu is an aspirant in the LP for the forthcoming governorship primary in Imo State.

The deceased was a native of Mbieri Ancient Kingdom in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

A friend of the family told PUNCH on the condition of anonymity that the auto merchant died on Friday evening.

He added that his death came as a shock.

The multi-billionaire politician had been contesting the governorship seat of the state since 1998.

Anumudu, who was also a lawyer, was said to be the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary in the state in 1998 before the ticket was ceded to Achike Udenwa who went on to rule the state between 1999 and 2007.

In 2019, he was the Zenith Labour Party’s governorship candidate.

His brother Willy Anumudu, who was chairman of Globe Motors, died in April 2020.
