Globacom sponsors African Voices featuring Ejatu Shaw

Globacom has sponsored this week’s edition of African Voices, which will feature Ejatu Shaw, a photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in London.

The programme airs on CNN International.

Shaw, a British-Sierra Leonean, was born in 1996. She holds a master’s degree in Photography Arts from the University of Westminster, which she obtained in 2020.

She developed an interest in photography in 2013 during a visit to Sierra Leone. Since then, she has used her work to explore her identity, drawing from her Islamic faith and African background.

Her work is influenced by photographers such as Malick Sidibé, Sory Sanlé and Omar Yahia Barram. She uses self-portraiture and other formats to present her ideas.

In 2025, the British Fashion Council named her a New Wave Creative.

In the same year, Ejatu Shaw photographed Angela Bassett for EBONY, Cynthia Erivo for The Guardian, Sunday Times and Vogue and Usain Bolt for Puma. She also worked on an album cover for Craig David.

African Voices will air on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. On Sunday, it will air at 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with repeats on Monday at 3:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.
