Glo-sponsored Professor Johnbull brings Valentine message to Nigerians

Professor Johnbull

A new episode of the popular TV drama Series, Professor Johnbull, sponsored by Globacom, goes on air this week with a clarion call on viewers to show uncommon love on Valentine’s Day.

Episode 1 of the new season will be broadcast on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, which is Valentine’s Day. The same episode will be repeated same time at the same stations on Friday.

Globacom said in a statement that the edition, entitled ‘Be My Val’, promises exciting moments for its millions of fans in Nigeria and across the world as it treats a global social event that has assumed a ritualistic posturing in the psyche of people.

The company stated that “the episode as well as the new season of the sitcom would as usual blend comedy with satire to highlight critical moral messages that would help in reshaping people’s attitude”.

“We have no doubt that the teeming fans of Professor Johnbull will find season 3 as exciting as ever. We are confident that each episode in this new season, like the episodes in the first two seasons, will thrill viewers superbly. We carefully selected the topics to be treated in this new season to continuously reflect  our day to day living as a people. ‘Be My Val’, the first episode of the season is a clear testimony to this,” Globacom said.

‘Be My Val’ parades the regulars in the sitcom such as Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo), Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo), Caro (Mercy Johnson-Okojie), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Samson (Ogus Baba) and Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola).

In the new episode, Professor Johnbull pontificates on the celebration of Valentine’s Day. Among other issues, the erudite scholar tries to examine the concept of true love. Should love be celebrated only on one day in a year? Should love be mutual, sacrificial or be based on what one can gain from the other party? What are the fortunes of the less privileged, the orphans and the abandoned ones on Valentine’s Day? Is Valentine’s Day a day to defraud people? What are the games ladies play on Valentine Day? Viewers will find answers to all these questions in the episode.

The series, exclusively sponsored by Globacom, is produced by Tchidi Chikere while Richard Mofe-Damijo and Chika Okpala serve as consultants.
