Ghanaians, Okoye, Buhari: Banters resume over Nigeria’s AFCON 2021 exit

Nigerian Twitter users have begun trading blames following the Super Eagles’ exit from the 2021 AFCON on Sunday in Cameroon.

Nigeria lost her Round of 16 game against Tunisia courtesy of a second half strike from Youssef M’Sakni.

Many on Twitter say Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye should have saved the shot from outside the box by M’Sakni.

Nigeria’s exit from the tournament comes just hours after Twitter users had trolled Ghana which was paired against the Super Eagles for the FIFA World Cup playoff in March. The Black Stars had a bismal performance at the 2021 AFCON, getting knocked out in the group stages.

Some critics say President Muhammadu Buhari is to blame for the team’s poor luck after he spoke with them via video conference earlier on Sunday.
