German President, Joachim Gauck, endorses Afropolitan Vibes

German President, Joachim Gauck and his wife, Daniela Schadt, on Tuesday, January 9 paid a visit to Freedom Park in Lagos and met with Nigerian-German artiste, Ade Bantu.

The visit to the former colonial prison where the monthly Afropolitan Vibes concert series holds was an endorsement of Ade Bantu and his band’s efforts at establishing a live music event of international standard and repute in Lagos State.

President Gauck and the ‘Oya Oya’ singer talked about the various milestones the show has recorded since its inception three years ago and the cross-cultural works of Bantu.

The artiste told qed.ng that President Gauck, who recently visited the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, spoke in support of the Afropolitan Vibes movement.

According to him, the “visit was an integral part of President Gauck’s itinerary. The President was already aware of Afropolitan Vibes.”

The 44-year-old and his band are set to perform at the annual Citizens Party of the President at his official residence in Berlin, Germany in September 2016.
