Funmi Iyanda’s Change-A-Life hosts Children’s Day funfair on May 27

Nigeria’s foremost social service non-profit organisation, Change-A-Life (CAL) Foundation, will on Friday, May 27, 2016 host the 7th edition of its annual Children’s Day funfair in honour of Nigerian children.

As it is tradition, the event which holds at Eniobanke Centre, 19 Adekunle Fajuyi way, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, will bring together beneficiaries of the Foundation’s intervention programmes, public officials, members of Corporate Nigeria, celebrities and community leaders.

Change-A-Life’s mission is to act as a bridge between people in need who possess human, community and leadership potential and the individuals, agencies and organisations with the capacity and willingness to help.

The Foundation was established in year 2002 by media entrepreneur, Funmi Iyanda.

Its annual commemoration of the United Nations’ Children’s Day is a platform to celebrate children who despite all odds are able to cope with the requirements of their education. It is also an avenue to build bridges of harmony and friendship between children from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Themed “Our Children: Our Future”, this year’s event will touch the lives of 1,500 children from ages 5 – 14 years in nursery, primary and junior secondary schools as well as motherless babies homes and orphanages.

Over the years, celebrities like 2face Idibia, Funke Akindele, Bovi, Derenle Edun, Ara and Ozzy Agu have graced the event to inspire the children. This year will be no exception.

Speaking on the significance of this year’s event, Coordinator of Change-A-Life Foundation, Sekinat Ayeyemi, said: “We intend to own the day as the event promises to be bigger and better. To engage the children and create an atmosphere of fun and excitement, notable artistes and celebrities will spend time with the kids to inspire and entertain them.

“There will be various fun activities such as spelling bee competitions, choreography, song/poem renditions and talent show, as well as other exciting gaming activities.

“This is in keeping with our aim of celebrating the Nigerian child, projecting love and happiness throughout the event and to raise money for the upkeep of beneficiaries of Change-A-Life foundation.”
