Four battling for survival as police cancel Asake’s London concert over stampede

Four people are currently fighting for their lives after Asake’s concert in London descended into chaos on Thursday night as fans tried to force their way into the venue without tickets resulting in a stampede.

Fans at the O2 Academy in Brixton were said to have been locked outside the venue in freezing temperatures, prompting some to try to force their way inside to watch Asake perform.

Eight people were taken to hospital, with four still in a critical condition due to injuries believed to have been caused by crushing. Others injured were treated at the scene.

The police in a statement shared on Twitter confirmed said that four people are in critical condition while others sustained injures.

The statement read: “Emergency services attended the 02 Academy in #Brixton following reports that a number of people had been injured after a large crowd attempted to gain entry without tickets. 4 people are in a critical condition at hospital. Officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance.”

A lady identified as Inayah on Twitter wrote: “Apparently two girls are being resuscitated and are unresponsive. Guys check on your people that went to Asake’s concert please.”

Another tweep identified as Mode added: “So the police have locked off Asake and have left a bunch of people in an alley in the freezing cold. It is well. Police are telling Asake to cancel his show for health and safety reason with 2k people outside freezing and 2k people inside confused. Wonderful.Two people ended up getting stabbed in all this madness. Smh.”
